CIBRC Objectives

Goals

The Central American Institute for biological Research and Conservation (CIBRC) has the goal to promote and support the scientific research in the areas of conservation and research in the Isthmus. With this goal in mind the CIBRC pursue the incorporation of researchers in the Mesoamerican region in the production of knowledge and its applications in the fields of science and conservation.

Antecedents

The goals of the CIBRC surge as a response to the current necessity in the promotion and development of the biological sciences and related fields in the Mesoamerican area. Historically, the public universities in Central America have been traditionally the source points for the production of basic and applied scientific knowledge, however in the as 15 years  the economic policies and directresses in the Central American countries have resulted in the budget cuts for science in general. Currently, young scientists from the region after their graduations have no options of been hired by the scientific circles in Central America ; its because of this reason that the CIBRC is an alternative option for the young scientist in the region to develop their own research proposals in their area of speciality.

Cientific objectives

To develop and implement a scientific propousals in the Central American serve as an institution of support for those researchers in Central America which want to develop their own iniciatives of research.

Academic objectives

To promote the training of young researchers and professionals in the areas of Biology and Conservation through courses that will efficiently  fulfill the current knowledge necessities of their students. Additionally, to promote the environmental education in the communities around the different projects executed by the CIBRC.

Research objectives

To promote the basic and applied research in biology and related fields. As well as to bring to the associated researchers support and help in the development of their proposals to guarantee their research success.

Conservatión objectives

To generate knowledge and solutions to the actual necessities in the conservation efforts to protect the biodiversity of the region. In addition, to develop conservation proposals that will involve the communities in a compatible effort between their necessities and the natural resources around them.
