Academic Subjects

Introduction

The Direction of Academic Subjects of the ICIBC persecutes to promote the qualification of professionals in the areas of biology and conservation through the implementation of basic and advanced courses. These courses will have high academic standards and will aim at increasing and perfecting the analytic qualities of our students as well as to give them the technical tools needed for successful development of future projects and research. Also, the Director of Academic Affairs is in charge of coordinating essential formative courses for those communities that will ask for them, keeping in mind their specific necessities and qualifications. As an example, the course for the training of naturalist guides could be adapted to the specific requirements of the different communities that ask for this course.

 

 

Training courses The training courses haim at training the students within different areas of knowledge related to the main topic of the courses. These courses have a longer duration than regular workshops and are created to circumscribe a set of different groups, like communal organizations and enterprises in ecotourism, which are interested in training their personnel adequately. Academic courses The academic oriented courses are developed for undergraduate as well as graduated students in the biological sciences The courses have a duration between 2 to 5 weeks, in which the students are encouraged to develop a wide range of activities, ranging from the structuring and execution of field research projects, writing scientific reports, data analysis, etc. The CIBRC courses are imparted by the CIBRC staff as well as other qualified professionals from other associated institutions .More...

Short courses The short courses imparted by the CIBRC are structured to be imparted to the general public. The main topic of these courses is the natural history of animal and plants of the Central American region. The two to three days duration makes these courses suitable to be set up for a weekend. These courses as well as other courses are developed by the CIBRC personnel as well as other qualified professional in the biological science from other associated institutions.More...

Workshops The workshops have the advantage that they can be imparted to communal organizations ,non - governmental organizations, naturalist guides as well as ecotouristic enterprises. These workshops are characterized by their specific topics (i.e. botany, tropical insect ecology) as well as their up to date status. Their duration and structure is flexible so they can be set up according to the specific wiches of interest of the organizations/individuals on them.More...
